About Loamy

Built in Davis, CA. Built for the people who grow food.

Loamy was founded in 2025 by a team with backgrounds in food safety, supply chain engineering, and machine learning. We are based in Davis, California, in the heart of one of the most productive agricultural regions in the world.

Why We Built This

The phone tree that broke during a recall

The trigger for Loamy was watching a produce shipper spend two days trying to identify the affected lots after a bagged salad recall. The certificates existed. They were in email inboxes and shared drives, in PDFs with inconsistent layouts, named by suppliers who used twelve different lot code formats. The problem was not the data. The problem was that no one had structured it into something queryable.

FDA called at noon on a Friday. By Saturday evening the operations team was still running manual searches across a shared drive. Two people. Sixteen hours. For a recall that affected three retail locations.

That gap (between "the data exists somewhere" and "we can answer a records request in 24 hours") is what Loamy is built to close. Not by replacing the certificate workflow, but by parsing what already arrives and building the graph underneath it.

Team

The people behind Loamy

Charles Julius, CEO and Co-Founder of Loamy
Charles Julius
CEO & Co-Founder

Years working in produce supply-chain operations alongside growers and shippers in California's Central Valley. Built an early understanding of where certificate data gets lost between supplier and receiver, and why that gap becomes costly when a recall hits. Co-founded Loamy to fix it.

Priya Srinath, CTO and Co-Founder of Loamy
Priya Srinath
CTO & Co-Founder

Background in distributed graph systems and document-parsing ML. Built data pipelines for traceability workflows at a fresh produce logistics platform before joining Charles to co-found Loamy. Leads the certificate extraction engine and the graph database architecture.

Marco Benetti, Head of Compliance at Loamy
Marco Benetti
Head of Compliance

Food safety auditing and FSMA 204 implementation background, including several years advising produce inspection programs on FDA readiness. Owns the compliance logic that maps Loamy's certificate data model to the KDE and CTE definitions under Section 204.

Loamy office in Davis, California

Location

Davis, California

Davis is home to UC Davis, one of the leading agricultural research universities in the world, and sits at the center of California's Central Valley produce belt. We chose this location deliberately: our customers grow food here, and we want to be present in their environment, not just in their inboxes.
